Saw, on the subway coming home from work, three men spontaneously strike up a conversation. They didn't know each other but within seconds they were telling details about their life histories, smiling and laughing as if they were old friends. Later on a subway platform, I saw two isolated groups of men patting each other on the back, strangely gently. It made me wonder if this is in fact an offshoot of the foul political climate: a feeling of a need to bond with one another, regardless of acquaintance.
